Four commissions and two house studies. Cali, Sensei and Aya are the founder’s own; Rayan is the first sitter from beyond the house. The rest are the studio working out what each school does to a face. Every commission carries a number, and every number has an entry.

The studies that
stayed in the drawer

One archetype per sitter, and nobody gets a repeat — which means every commission leaves two or three finished portraits behind. Field Marshal Sensei. Duchess Aya. The garden study that lost to the empress. The atelier keeps its rejects; some of them argue.
